Hi! I’m Macayla—a graphic designer and 2026 bride figuring this all out in real time. If you’re anything like me, you probably have a million Pinterest boards, a thoughtful budget, and a vision you’re not willing to compromise on.

This is where I’m sharing the details behind my DIY projects—what worked, what didn’t, and what I wish I knew sooner—along with the exact tools, templates, and pieces I’m using along the way.

Think of this blog as your creative bestie—part inspiration, part how-to, and completely judgment-free. I’ll walk you through each project step by step, sharing what actually works (and what doesn’t), so you can create something that feels like you.

Finding Your Style

Starting your wedding planning (and DIY projects) can feel overwhelming—especially when you love everything you see on Pinterest. If you’ve been saving inspiration for a while, it can be hard to know where to even begin.

One of the easiest ways I’ve found to narrow things down is to scroll through your saved pins and look for patterns. Pay attention to the colors, textures, and styles that keep showing up—you’ll start to see your style take shape faster than you think.

Repeating Colors — are you drawn to soft neutrals or bold tones?.

Textures and Materials — lace, linen, florals, or something more structured?

Overall Vibe — romantic, minimal, coastal, classic?

Refining the Direction

Another way to bring clarity is to start with a season. I’m getting married in Massachusetts, where we get all four—and each one naturally brings its own mood and direction.

Spring — soft florals, pastels, garden-inspired details

Summer — bright tones, coastal or outdoor settings

Fall — rich color palettes, layered textures, warmth

Winter — clean contrasts, subtle sparkle, refined details

A Simple Starting Point

Now that you have inspiration, let’s create your own mini style guide!

Open your notes app or grab a notebook and jot down:

5 colors you keep coming back to

3 words that describe how you want your day to feel

1 season you feel most drawn to

This becomes your starting point—a simple, personal guide to help you design with intention.

I hope this helps you feel a little less overwhelmed and a lot more excited to start shaping your day. You don’t need to have everything figured out—you just need a place to begin. And don’t worry, you’re not in this alone!

Upcoming Projects

Stick around because next, I’m sharing how I put together my bridesmaid proposal boxes—one of the most fun projects to kick things off. It’s where the details really start to come together, and each piece begins to feel more personal.

DIY doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s about creating something that reflects you—thoughtfully, intentionally, and in a way that feels true to your vision. A thoughtful detail makes all the difference.
